Route changes, closures, results and thank-yous. If it is urgent it is pinned to the top and it appears on the homepage too.
Ste. Anne, Elgin, Durham, Larch, Lisgar, Elm and Notre Dame all close at 3:00 p.m. and reopen about an hour after the last entry passes. Parking is not permitted anywhere on the route from 3:00 p.m., and vehicles left on it will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Entries are open and this year’s theme is A Very Merry Sudbury Christmas. Not-for-profit entries are $75 for the first vehicle and $100 for each additional; commercial entries are $150 and $200. Register early — the parade filled at 68 entries last year and we expect the same again.
Marshalling is the job that keeps the parade moving, and we are short on the Larch, Lisgar and Elm stretch. It is about four hours on your feet, and it is the best seat in the city. Sixteen and up on your own; fourteen and up with a guardian on the same shift.
The parade is free to watch and free for community groups to walk in because twenty local businesses decided it should be. Here is every one of them, at every level, with our thanks — and a note on what the money actually paid for.
For the first time the winners are published on the site rather than announced once in a room. Best float, best band, best marching group and the Children’s Choice, with photographs of each. We are also backfilling 2022 and 2023 from the archive.
